Preparation
Your first appointment
Please bring everything you already have relating to your complaints. The more complete the documents are, the more precisely it can be assessed what makes sense in your case.
- e-card — for recording your details
- Previous findings and doctors' letters — older ones too, for instance after an earlier accident or operation
- X-ray, CT and MRI images — if possible the images on the disc, not only the written report
- No referral needed — you can book directly
How quickly do I get an appointment?
As a rule you will get an appointment within a week. For acute cases — after a fall or a recent sports injury, for example — I keep times free outside the regular practice hours. In that case, please get in touch by telephone or by e-mail.
What happens at the first appointment
First I take time for your history: how long the complaints have been present, what triggers them and what limits you in everyday life or in sport. The physical examination follows. Ultrasound is available to me directly in the practice; if needed, I arrange an X-ray or an MRI outside the practice. Whether you are treated conservatively or operated on depends on the findings — we take that decision together as soon as all the results are in.
Costs and billing
For operations, direct settlement with your supplementary insurance is possible. I have summarised the process on the page private practice and reimbursement.
If you already know your condition
You will find the treatment paths for the most common diagnoses on the pages about shoulder surgery, elbow surgery and hand surgery. The treatments page gives an overview of the conservative methods in the practice.

In that case, please call during the phone hours or send an e-mail; I read e-mails several times a day, including outside the phone hours.
No. You do not need a referral for an appointment at my practice; you can book directly. It helps if you bring any findings you already have from your general practitioner and earlier doctors' letters.
Please bring everything that is available: e-card, previous findings, doctors' letters as well as X-ray, CT and MRI images. Older images are valuable too, because they show the course over time. If the images are available digitally, please bring the disc, not only the written report.
